Top tips for the perfect wedding morning

After years of experience in the wedding industry and former brides-to-be ourselves, these are our top tips to ensure your wedding morning is calm, stress free and most importantly, fun!

Get an early night if possible. We know it’s tempting to stay up late with your bride tribe and have a fun girl’s night, but try to save the partying for the wedding night! With the excitement and nerves running high, it may take you a little longer to drift off, so head to bed a little earlier than normal to get a good night’s sleep so you can hopefully wake up bright and fresh for your big day. Have a calming bath, cup of tea or relaxing music if it helps you unwind and drift off easier.

Don’t forget to eat! It’s easy to get distracted with nerves and excitement but you’ll need energy to get you through one of the biggest days of your life, so make sure you have a nice, healthy breakfast with your tribe and have snacks handy throughout the day. Hello, pre-ordered brunch platter…. not just bubbles on an empty stomach!

Create a playlist of sweet tunes! Whether you prefer fun, upbeat music or more calming music, it will definitely create a more enjoyable atmosphere for your wedding morning. Don’t forget to pack your portable speaker if you’re not staying at home.

Delegate your phone to a bridesmaid or family member. You don’t want to spend your morning on the phone to wedding vendors or venues, asking for directions for deliveries etc. Let someone else take those calls for you to take the workload and stress off you.

Book appropriate accommodation. If you’re getting ready at your accommodation, please make sure it has plenty of room for all the people that will be coming and going on that day, particularly the hair and makeup artists, photographer and flower bouquet deliveries. There’s nothing worse than all squeezing into a tiny little hot box! Also, make sure your wedding accommodation has air conditioning/climate control, good lighting and nice backdrops for all your ‘getting ready’ bridal photos.

Book vendors that you vibe with. Particularly on your wedding morning, it’s fun to have a makeup artist and hair stylist that you get along well with, and they get along with each other, it can really add to the overall vibe of the morning.

Matching PJS. Have matching pyjamas for your bridal party. Not only will you all feel fabulous, it also makes for some cute photos.

Bridesmaid gifts ready. If you’ve organised bridemaid gifts for the wedding day, make sure they are ready to go. Pyjamas, robes, jewellery, combs, perfume, hair accessories, champagne and heart glasses are always popular, well-loved ideas.

Have your dress and accessories ready. Have your dress, veil, underwear, shoes and all those small accessories laid out ready for the morning, including all the bridesmaid’s items. Not only will the morning run smoother, it will also be ready for your photographer to get all those beautiful details shots without them having to interrupt you.

Have a timeline and stick to it. Especially with your hair and makeup team, as they usually have many girls to get through, along with any mothers or family members that are wanting their hair and makeup done.  You don’t want the stress of turning up to your own wedding late! It’s also ideal to put yourself in the middle of the hair/makeup order, that way you’re done by the time the flowers arrive or other vendors require your time. Make sure you have created a realistic run sheet with your glam team, vendors and bridesmaids in the lead up to the wedding, so everyone is on the same page and knows the order of the day.

Disposable cameras. Have some disposable cameras nearby for all those fun, candid shots. They will be a memorable keepsake of your special time together.

Guard your peace. Honestly, this is your special day so don’t feel obliged to invite anyone you don’t really want there for the morning. This includes overbearing MILs or friends that prefer the spotlight on themselves.

Have fun! Pop some bubbly and fun confetti cannons, and get the celebrations started! Enjoy your special day!
