Helpful hints to plan your wedding day.

There are 1 million blogs and posts about planning your wedding, but being in the industry for more of our lives than not, the team at Bowerbird Bride has come up with our best hints that we see working time and time again.

WEDDING PLANNER

-Get a good wedding planner, diary or notebook. A notebook or wedding planner with different sections will make it easier to organise your thoughts and ideas as you have them.

BUDGET

-It seems simple but also super hard, but a good place to start is: Do a spreadsheet with your everyday incoming and outgoing payments. Look at where you can save and where you can scrimp. How much spare $ is left? Create a realistic budget based on that money (allow some contingency funds too). No one wants to be paying off their wedding 10years after the event.

-Spread out the payments

-Buy small things along the way, make part payments early to keep you on track. #girlmath. This will save you so much stress in the month leading up to your wedding with all the vendors requiring payment at the same time and if there is unexpected extra budget close to your wedding, splurge on something fun!

MUST HAVE’S

*Remember what is important to you. Make a list of the things that are most to least important and spread your budget accordingly.

-Food, music, atmosphere, flowers etc

-Don’t get caught up with having to have ALL the things, if that’s not you. Do what feels genuine and right for you both.

-If you have a tight budget, focus on 1-2 key areas – you do not need 20 different zones.

DREAM WEDDING VENDOR TEAM

*Choose vendors you personally gel with, and whose work you love.

-Trust them to make the best decision on the day.

*Invest in an amazing wedding photographer or videographer to capture the moments that you might miss or want to cherish after all the craziness has settled.

MEMORIES

*Get your photos printed! It seems silly now everything is digital, but there is nothing like the tactile leafing through an album or looking at your wedding photos and memories on the wall.

*Save the memories – disposable cameras, audio guest books, cards, guest books, photo booths, vow cards, silk ribbons from your bouquets.

MAKE IT YOUR DAY

*Have personal touches that make the day yours. If you are DIY-ing elements, start prepping early, so you don’t have a string of late nights, gluing menus in the days before your wedding.

*If it is in your budget, get an on the day wedding planner – the stress saved will be worth the money. I promise.

Best of luck with the planning!
